Amaris Ormond

I am a fourth year PhD student researching ecophysiology of epiphytic lichens within Scotland's temperate rainforest. I am particularly interested in characterising lichens physiological response to climate through controlled gas-exchange and in situ microhabitat measurements. My project, titled: 'The resilience and acclimation potential of temperate rainforest lichens' is funded by NERC and CASE partner NatureScot.

My background is in ecology and I completed my undergraduate in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science at the at the University of the West of England. During this time, I studied lichen taxonomy and completed a dissertation on the impacts of rock climbing on calcicolous lichens within a SSSI. After graduating I worked various roles in industry and gained experience in ecological field surveying, mapping/GIS and sustainability.
